“Porto”

A Redevelopment of the Porta Portese Arsenale

“Porto” is my final project from the 6-week Urban Site Design summer seminar in Rome, Italy.

“Porto”, meaning Port in Italian, and “Orto”, meaning garden, this play on words is the title of our team’s architectural and landscape redevelopment plan. We analyzed a site near Porta Portese in the neighborhood of Trastevere containing an abandoned arsenal, and each of us designed a different portion of the site. I created a pollinator garden, a vegetable garden, and an art gallery. All renderings are watercolor, 9x12”

With an emphasis on immersive landscapes, this design aims to transform the urban void into a magnetic hub for locals, promoting community engagement, artistic expression, heightened safety, efficient circulation, culinary delights, and a connection with nature.
